We need to get over ourselves and realize that vulnerability can be a great thing. When we chose to be vulnerable, we let go of all agendas, all filters, all pre-conceived notions and predicted outcomes. We open ourselves up to honest and sometimes brutal feedback, new ways of doing things and new ideas. Not only do we open ourselves up, but we are also willing to take the feedback and do something with it.
I think it feels great to not have to pretend that I know it all and to be open to help from others. I am a firm believer in surrounding myself with great smart people so I don't have to know it all. I also know how horrible it feels to get caught pretending that I know it all.
I encourage you to think about where you might be covering up that you could use some help, guidance or continuing education. Where can you get help? Who do you know that is an expert in that area? How can you benefit from the people around you?
Action: Pick one area of your life where you could use help. Ask your friends, mentor or family for honest feedback/guidance. (Are you rolling your eyes?) You won't know how great it feels until you start asking for help, so get busy!
